This 5-week course introduces the medium of glassblowing and teaches the fundamental skills of working with hot glass.

GLASSBLOWING FUNDAMENTALS 2

This course builds upon the skills in GB Fundamentals 1 or the Crash Course. Additional forms are introduced to help continue the student's understanding of fundamental glass skills. If you were not quite comfortable with your skill set after the first class, you will be after this one!

GLASSBLOWING FUNDAMENTALS 3

This course introduces the use of color and a variety of ways to incorporate it into your glassware. Underlays, overlays, frit, and shards will be demonstrated and discussed to complete your understanding of fundamental glass skills.

Fusing 101

This exciting introductory class presents an overview of creative possibilities for cutting, blending, and shaping glass in a kiln. We will discuss the nature of glass, how it changes form, how it reacts to changing temperatures, and how to use a kiln so you are prepared to use our studio on your own.

Fusing 201

Delve in to an advanced exploration of fusing processes, including adding inclusions and working out designs for your own ideas in fused glass. Fusing 101 or previous experience with cutting and firing required.

Kiln Casting 101

Learn the basics of kiln casting to make sculptures in cast glass. The course includes introductory sculpting techniques, basic mold making, and the beginning how-to's of the lost-wax method of casting. This class will prepare you to use our studio to experiment with your own work.

Pate Dê Verre 101

Using the French technique of Pâte de Verre (Paste of Glass) students will fill a mold with layers of glass color to build up pictures, add depth, and change its opacity. Learn how to build a two-part press mold that will be the base for forming the glass. By designing and modeling their own bowl, students will gain a better understanding of how color and size of glass in casting affect the finished piece.

Neon 101

Learn about torch set up and safety, bending and splicing (cutting) glass, setting up a pattern, the “pumping” process, and the electrical component of neon signs. Students make their own neon pattern to work on an individual project.

Neon 201

Complete a personal project and collaborate on a large group project to advance your skills working with neon. Learn about advanced use of transformers and wiring of signs.

KIDS CAMP

Introduce your children to the mezmerizing medium of glass with 5 days of creative exporation with glass art just for kids, ages 9-13. During this immersive week, they participate in educational hands on projects in a range of techniques from fusing to casting to glass blowing.
