Stained Glass and Mosaics Classes
Stained glass and Mosaics classes in Minneapolis, MN, are among our most popular offerings. Through this range of classes, you can learn how to create imagery out of flat sheets of glass through cutting, gluing, and grouting, or lining edges with copper foil, bending lead came for stained glass, and soldering to create a work of art. Many of our students have utilized the skills learned in these classes to make their own household decorations or products to sell online and in person. The majority of our stained glass and mosaics classes in Minneapolis, MN, are beginner-friendly, and any classes with prerequisites will state so in their respective descriptions. Registration is available to students 14 years old and up.

Mosaics 1
In this introductory Glass on Glass Mosaic Panel course, students will choose a picture and create their own pattern to make their project. Students will learn about selecting glass and cutting pieces down to fit their pattern. Once cut and adhered to their panel, grout will be applied to the panel. The finished project will become a 12 x 12 panel that may hang in a window.
No experience required. All materials are provided.

Stained Glass 1
Learn the art of Stained Glass in this introductory course. Participants will select from a variety of beginner patterns to make their projects. We’ll then learn about selecting, cutting and grinding the glass to fit perfectly together. After which we’ll move onto copper foiling the edges and soldering the glass pieces together. Projects will become finished hanging suncatchers or a small framed window to display.
No experience required. All materials are provided.

Stained Glass: Working with Lead
In this introductory course, participants will learn how to create a leaded, stained glass panel. Students will learn about selecting, cutting, and grinding glass following a provided pattern of their choice. After which, we’ll move onto assembling the panel using lead came, soldering the joints, and applying a waterproofing putty. Finished projects can become sun catchers or small framed windows for display.
No experience required. All materials are provided.

Stained Glass 2
Build on your foundational skills learned in Stained Glass 1 to start designing your own patterns. This 6 weeks course will expand on the basics by introducing pattern development, 3D form building, spatial planning, and refining soldering techniques. Each participant will get to design and build their own three- or four-sided lantern.
Prerequisite: Completed Stained Glass 1 or equivalent.
All materials are provided.

Stained Glass ~ Open Studio
Come join us for Stained Glass Open Studio! Create a suncatcher, small project, or get assistance from a mentor with a larger project. All materials such as copper foil, lead came, solder, and patina, and glass is included. A stained glass mentor will be available for guidance if you have any questions about the process or need tips and tricks to enhance your skills. This is the perfect way to spend an evening creating art, learning new techniques, and getting to know other stained glass artists.
This all inclusive fee covers studio rental, materials, glass, and the mentor’s time.
Prerequisite: Completed Stained Glass 1 or have taken a Stained Glass Discovery.

Stained Glass Trinket Box
This two week tech session will expand on the basics of stained glass by introducing pattern drawing, 3D and spatial planning, and new soldering techniques. Each participant will design and build their own hinged-lid box approximately 3.5”x5.5”x3”.
No experience required. All materials are provided.
