Glass Arts Education and Partnerships Manager

Hours: Full-time exempt
Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000
Full-time employees at Foci MCGA receive a monthly healthcare stipend, generous PTO, safe and sick time, accrual of studio usage points, and VIP membership perks at Foci MCGA.
Reports to: Executive Director
Description: The glass arts education and partnerships manager reports to the executive director and has oversight and responsibility for the education programming at Foci MCGA. The glass arts education and partnerships manager is required to promote the interests of Foci MCGA and present a positive and supportive work environment. This leadership position requires a high level of professionalism and behavior, problem solving, teamwork and flexibility along with community education knowledge, partnership knowledge, and glass arts knowledge.
Position Breakdown
Glass Arts Education Manager - 75%
Manage Core Class calendar, Glass Discovery classes and special events, Tech Sessions, and Open Studio sessions.
Schedule, co-curate, and manage logistics for adult classes, youth classes, local artist talks, and demos
In collaboration with ED manage visiting artist residency program including scheduling, hosting, and logistics
Interview and onboard instructors alongside ED
Assign and schedule instructors to teach classes
Assign and schedule TAs and interns serving as TAs
Evaluate and support instructors in professional development needs
Ensure all instructors are up to date with trainings and studio protocols
Maintain and update syllabi for classes
Monitor and acquire needed supplies for education and partnership programming
Act as the primary contact for all Foci educational and partnership programming
Oversee enrollment and scholarships
Work with admin assistant on evaluation collection, confirmation emails, and class material creation and distribution
Work with administrative team on cancellations, and rescheduling of programming
Develop new programming in response to community needs and evaluation
In collaboration with admin, make sure registration databases, programming signups, and class surveys are being recorded, sent, and responded to
In collaboration with admin, release new classes on website on a quarterly basis
Other program duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Partnerships Manager - 15%
Develop and maintain partnership programming serving opportunity youth and other groups
Coordinate schedules, goals, instructors, and outcomes
Work in tandem with ED on partnership contracts, MOUs, logistics, budgets, and invoices
Bring in new partnerships using current ones as a successful model
Arts Center Collaboration - 5%
Work with technical staff and ED to propose studio updates, new equipment, etc.
Work with marketing and gallery staff to promote classes and events and schedule needed instructors
Work with staff as needed to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for customers, students and staff
Welcome customers to Foci MCGA and answer their questions as needed
Process point of sale purchases and returns when needed
Assist customers with reservations and cancellations as needed
Assist with annual programming budget as assigned by the Executive Director
Additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Support the state fair gallery and glassblowing program and other all hands on deck programs and events
Instructor - 5%
Teach core glass art classes when needed in kilnforming, glassblowing, lost wax casting, and/or stained glass.
Qualifications and Work Requirements
Undergraduate or graduate college degree in glass, equivalent experience considered
Minimum of two years instructing or managing glass art classes
Experience working in a community education environment
Experience working in a glass studio environment
Experience working with youth
Experience writing syllabi and working with syllabi
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to type and to use and maintain databases with accuracy
Excellent time management and problem solving skills
Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to systematically think through projects, backwards plan, and adhere to a budget
Ability to work independently and with direction
Knowledge of Google workspace
A positive attitude and collaborative nature
Confidence talking in front of a crowd
Ability to welcome and effectively work with people of many lived experiences
Ability to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays
Ability to lift 35 pounds
Ability to bend and stretch to accomplish necessary tasks
Ability to stand on feet throughout the day
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Glass Experience Instructors
Experience Instructors are contract positions hired as needed to teach individual and group one-day Glass Discovery experiences in our Hot Shop, Flame Shop, and Kiln Shop.
Compensation: $18-25/hr, commensurate with experience Hours: As needed. 2 hour minimum.
Requirements
Minimum of three years of glass experience.
Experience working in a public setting.
Experience in customer service.
A positive attitude, including a helpful and outgoing nature.
Must be able to talk in front of a crowd and be respectful to our customers.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Ability to work weekends, evenings and some holidays.
Ability to represent Foci MCGA professionally.
Job Duties
Teaches Glass Discovery classes to individuals or groups during regularly scheduled hours and after hours classes.
Greeting customers and checking in students.
May on occasion be required to close the studio.
Remain knowledgeable on Foci MCGA programs, events, and pricing.
Prepares the studio for customers, classes, and events.
Follows all safety protocols and demonstrates all safety standards to students.

Teaching Assistant
Foci MCGA welcomes applications for Teaching Assistants for upcoming Core Classes in Glassblowing, Fusing & Slumping, Youth Camps, Kiln Casting, Hot Casting, Neon, Flameworking, Coldworking, and Visiting Artist Workshops.
Candidates should
possess some knowledge and experience in the area they are applying to assist,
be seeking to gain more knowledge and experience in the area they are applying to assist,
be capable of supporting the instructor and Foci MCGA’s curriculum,
possess strengths in time management, patience, and attentiveness.
Teaching assistants are expected to
attend every class for the entirety of the class,
assist instructor during demonstrations,
assist students in practicing what was demonstrated in class,
help ensure all students are working together,
help ensure all students are getting equal practice time and attention,
make sure students are cleaning up work areas before each class is over.
Perks
As a perk for being a Teaching Assistant one will receive studio access in the form of studio points to be used in any of Foci MCGA’s studios. This position does not receive monetary compensation.
