Veterans Day at Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts

Saturday Nov. 13, 2021 from 10am-5pm

Starting October 30th, 2021 proof of vaccination will be required upon entry. Attendees will need to bring a digital or hard copy of their vaccination card, negative COVID PCR test dated within 72 hours of the event, or notarized exemption. We will not retain any personal medical information, simply checking hard copy or digital (app/phone) at the door. Masks will still be required at all times. View our COVID-19 Policy here.

In honor and recognition of the service put forth by our country's veterans, Foci MCGA invites U.S. Veterans and their families to participate in a Veterans Day Weekend Hot Glass Paperweight Discovery Class free of charge. Classes will be held on Saturday November 13, 2021 between 10am-5pm. Each 2 hour class will have a maximum of 4 participants and will include a safety orientation and demonstration lead by the instructor and allow time to guide each participant through creation of their own colorful solid glass globe. Veterans are welcome to sign up for 1 spot in a class or up to 4 spots to bring a friend or family members ages 9 and up.

Please let us know if you have any mobility concerns in regards to creating your glass paperweight. Working with hot glass will require sitting at a glassblower’s bench, some standing, and holding a pipe with two hands, and shaping molten glass with one’s right hand. Any of the steps can be modified with more assistance from the instructor. The hot glass studio houses equipment that holds above 2000ºF, the conditions are sometimes quite warm and are not tolerated well by some for extended lengths of time.

Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts is located in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis at 2213 Snelling Ave. Our parking lot and building is ADA accessible. Additional street parking is available nearby.
