Exhibition Statement

In my own life I have accumulated wounds, scars, and injuries and with each passing moment I end up with another. Bodies are like that, though - they hurt, and they work to heal. As humans, we have created different ways to try and fix ourselves, to try and mend. The fixing can be by surgery, medication, pins, and needles, but I believe that there is still pain that comes with the healing. The mark is still there, no matter how small, and so is the memory. In this work, I explore the correlation between pain and how we develop with it. It is through glass and mixed materials that I am working to define what pain is to me and to better understand that to live is to occasionally break. At The Seams, In The Flesh is a body, my body.
