Visiting Artist Class: Pattern & Form with Corey Pemberton from Oct. 27-31,2021

Foci MCGA invites experienced glassblowers to participate in a 5-day intensive workshop focusing on cane and murrine techniques taught by Corey Pemberton. This workshop covers different approaches for cane and murrine making by layering colors, bundling canes, and pulling and re-pulling. Students are taught methods for arranging motifs, rolling up patterns on collars and bubbles, and designing blown forms that best showcase the patterns. This workshop is perfect for people looking to learn a new technique, refine their skills, and add surface decoration to their blown glass.

Corey (American b. Reston, VA 1990) received his BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. He has completed residencies at The Pittsburgh Glass Center (PA), Bruket (Bodø, NO), as well as a Core Fellowship at the Penland School of Crafts (NC). He currently resides in Los Angeles, California where he splits his time between Crafting the Future, production glass blowing, and his painting practice. Pemberton strives to bring together people of all backgrounds and identities, breaking down stereotypes and building bridges; not only through his work with the nonprofit, Crafting The Future, but with his personal artistic practice as well.

Special thanks to the American Craft Council for their generosity in sponsoring this event and making this possible!
